Progesterone is a naturally occurring hormone found in both women and men. In men, it is produced in small amounts by the adrenal glands and testes and plays a supportive role in the body’s overall hormone system.
Progesterone is also an intermediate in the hormone production pathway, meaning it contributes indirectly to the synthesis of other steroid hormones, including Testosterone. However, testosterone levels are primarily regulated by the brain and testes, not progesterone alone.
As men age, testosterone levels may gradually decline due to changes in hormonal signaling and testicular function. At the same time, levels of Estrogen may become relatively more prominent.
Hormonal health depends on the balance and interaction of multiple systems in the body, rather than a single hormone.
